One of the most fascinating aspects of working with clients is seeing who they were before they got sick and their transformation as their symptoms improve.
You would think that the physical symptoms improve, but not much else changes. However, that couldn't be farther from the truth.
Many realize that they were not as present as they could be, that they were always busy and stressed, and that they pursued careers that did not bring them fulfillment.
Chronic illness forces us to put a big pause on our life, but in this pause also comes an opportunity.
Many of us live life on autopilot due to the busyness of everyday life. We don't stop to reflect or ask questions.
So take this now time to reflect on your life:
What is your vision for this life? Even with the current limitations, how can you become the person you want to be and do the things you want to do?
Expect your old life to fall apart. Chronic illness has already put this in motion. So now, what will you fill with your new life? What experiences, relationships, beliefs will take place now?
Prepare to be out of your comfort zone. You're embracing something new, but that can be scary at the same time, so prepare to feel uncomfortable.
How has chronic illness forced you to reflect on life?
In my work with clients, one of the first steps we take is we look at and craft the client's vision. That way, all of the steps they take are aligned with who they really want to be.
